French Butter Dish in Black Stoneware Clay

French Butter Dish in Black Stoneware Clay

$50.00Price

I made these butter keepers out of black stoneware and glazed the lid and the interior of the keeper in reactive blue glaze. Because it is a darker clay, there may be some slight inconsistencies in the finish.  The interior of the butter storage lid is completely glazed .  It measures 4.25 inches in height and 4 inches wide at the opening.  This butter container allows you to store up to two sticks of butter in the jar and leave it in your kitchen to serve at room temperature.  The result is soft butter when you want it.

Directions for storage:

  1. Pack softened butter into the lid, pressing firmly.
  2. Fill the base with fresh, cold water (about 1/2 cup). The water creates and airtight seal to keep oxygen out allowing the butter to be used in its soft for without refrigeration.
  3. Replace the water every 3-5 days to keep butter fresh and spreadable for up to one month.
